Ivanti Endpoint Manager Remote Control Security prompts on Mac OS

Summary

Permission settings are required to be set by the user for Remote Control to work. This is true of any remote control program and not specific to Ivanti products. This document shows the steps required after agent installation.

Body

Prerequisites / Minimum Requirements

  • An Apple supported version of Mac OS
  • JAMF communication is enabled
  • Self Service Application connects to JAMF server

End State / Outcome

  • Ivanti Endpoint Manager software installed or being installed
  • Remote Control permissions enabled
  • If the end user does not provide permissions to the Ivanti Remote Control function, IT support to that user will be delayed

How to Steps

  • Remote Control is used by Creighton support team when requested by the end user to provide support assistance.
  • Apple does not allow the remote control settings to be managed by any IT department
  • The end user must provide approval in system preferences for remote control to be allowed
  • Once the endpoint manager software has been installed, a box will pop up prompting to finish setup of Ivanti Remote Control
  • Click the blue box to Open System Settings (or open System Settings via other means)

Setup Ivanti Remote Control first screen

  • Toggle the IVRemoteControl from off (grey), to On (blue)
  • If the computer has the correct JAMF user profiles, this setting change should not require admin rights; Any user should be able to toggle this setting

  • Click Quit and Reopen
  • If later is chosen, the device will need to be logged out or restarted

  • The first time a support technician attempts a remote control connection, the screencapture prompt will occur
  • Click Allow
  • Failing to Click Allow will prevent the support technicians from providing the required technical support
  • No actual recordings or audio capture is being made.  This is all apple terminology for allowing a person to remotely view a screen
