How to Steps

Xi Frame is the cloud infrastructure used to deliver virtual machines that students at Creighton can use for their coursework.  Frame can be launched using a web browser on a computer with constant, high-speed Internet connection.  Since Frame is a virtual computer, it is a separate computer, with separate processing, storage, and memory that is NOT part of your own computer that you are using to launch Frame.

Log-in Instructions

Instructors will arrange to have a Frame accounted created for students.  All requests for Frame access must come from the students instructor.

Google Chrome, Mozilla Firegox and Edge are the preferred browsers to use with Frame.  

If users are on campus and connecting to a wireless network, need to be on CUWireless NOT CUGuest.  Users can not run a Frame session on CUGuest.

On a PC machine in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen click on the network icon and then click on the Wireless icon at the top of the box.

 

 

Next click on CUWireless and Connect.  You will be prompted to log in with your NetID and Blue password. 

On an Apple computer in the upper right hand corner click on the wireless icon and select CUWireless from the pop down window. You will be prompted to enter you NetID and Blue password.

 

To launch a Frame session open a web browser and go to https://console.nutanix.com/?idp=Creighotn-Azure.  Next you will prompted to enter your NetID@creighton.edu and you Blue password. Note: You may be prompted to authenticate with Azure MFA

This will bring you to the Frame Desktop.  Click on the Desktop icon to launch a session.


 

This will bring you to a Windows desktop containing the software installed for your course work. 

If you need to save a file there are 2 options. You cans Save AS and select the Download Now folder in File Explorer (this will save a computer in your computer Download folder) or you can save to your P: Driver folder (All files in your P: driver folder will remain until the end of the semester when your Frame account is removed).

Important: Each time you launch Frame you will get a brand new session.  Any files that are not saved in your P:drive or downloaded to your computer will be lost when you close your session.     

You can also upload a by clicking on the Upload File icon located in the lower right of your window.  This will upload the file into the Uploads folder in File Explorer  

It is important to close you session when you are finished using Frame.  To close your session click on the cog located in the bottom left of your window and select Close Session (Do not select Disconnect).
