Error Signing Into Microsoft Applications

Summary

Instructions to fix an error that occurs when your are unable to log into Microsoft applications.

Common Signs or Symptoms:

  • Receive a Something went wrong message when trying to access your Microsoft applications.  The message will be similar to the image below and is a common error, particularly when your device has needed to have the motherboard repaired.

Troubleshooting Steps:

Windows 11 Instructions

  1. Open the Systems window by typing System in the search bar.
  2. On the left of that window, select Accounts.
  3. Click the Access Work or School option.
  4. Next to the user’s email address click the downward arrow and then choose Disconnect.
  5. When a prompt appears asking you Are Sure That you Want To Remove This Account, click Yes.
  6. Near the top of the window there in the option to Add A Work Or School Account click the  Connect button.
  7. A Set Up A Work Or School Account pop-up will appear, enter the your Creighton email address (Make sure to use the NetID@Creighton.edu)
  8. A Creighton password prompt will appear, enter the password and click Sign In.
  9. When complete, a message saying You’re All Set will appear. Then click Done.
  10. Your email will now be visible in the Access to Work Or School Window.
  11. Open a Microsoft application to confirm that the fix has taken effect.

Windows 10 Instructions (Similar with a few minor differences)

  1. Open the Accounts window by typing Accounts in the search bar and select Manage Your Accounts.
  2. On the left pane of that window, select Access Work or School.  When the window opens, you will see your Creighton email address.
  3. Click the email address, which will then show a Disconnect button.
  4. Click Disconnect.
  5. A prompt will appear asking if you Are Sure That you Want To Remove This Account. Then click Yes .
  6. Near the top of the same window click the Connect button.
  7. A Set Up A Work Or School Account pop-up will appear, enter the your Creighton email address (Make sure to use the NetID@Creighton.edu)
  8. A Creighton password prompt will appear,  enter the password and click Sign In.
  9. When complete, a message saying You’re All Set will appear.  Then click Done.
  10. Your email will now be visible in the Access to Work Or School Window.
  11. Open a Microsoft application to confirm that the fix has taken effect.
