Registrar Diploma Printer Canon P291

Summary

Registrar Diploma Printer Canon P291.

Body

How to Steps

Printer P291 is a Canon 3330i multifunction device currently located in the Office of the Registrar in Brandeis 212 until Summer 2023, when the office will be relocated to the first floor area of the Harper building. This printer is known as the diploma printer as one-off diplomas are printed on special paper in trays two and three. Marie Angele is the contact person for this and whose job responsibility it is to print these one-off diplomas.

In order to set this device up properly, please arrange for a CSA to meet Jamie from Canon and Marie Angele from the Registrar's Office, as Jamie has the Canon knowledge, Marie has the diploma knowledge, and a CSA can assist in setting up Windows printers.

P291 has been set with non-standard settings for this application. It is set to allow for direct-IP printing due to the special requirements for printing diplomas. I will not list the step-by-step process for setting it up as the setup varies by operating system, but the following must be done:

1.     Obtain the IP address of the device (Canon).

2.     Download and install the specific Canon driver from the Canon website (see URL below).

3.     Configure Windows for direct-to-IP printing (CSA and Canon).

4.     Configure the second and third paper trays for the special diploma paper (Canon and Marie).

 Notes

During the end of each semester there is a critical time window as students request second copies or replacement diplomas. Other times during the year there are infrequent requests.

As of April 2023 Creighton is still printing these one-off diplomas but there is ongoing discussion of outsourcing the printing to an online company.
