Installing the Gpg4win file-level encryption tool

Summary

The article describes the installation of Gpg4win at the user level and the creation and exportation of the certificate into a public key file. The tool is used to encrypt individual files that can be viewed only by those possessing the key generated and shared by the user. This encryption tool is the suggested tool is used to communicate securely with the federal compliance process called Financial Value Transparency/Gainful Employment (FVT/GE)

How to Steps

1. Download the Gpg4win app. Gpg4 win can be obtained directly from https://www.gpg4win.org/, but it requires a minimal donation for download. (There are other sites that allow unrestricted download since it is an open-source application.)

2. Install the application with Admin rights to insure full access to the applications features.

3. Run Kleopatra (the certificate manager included in the Gpg4win install).

4. Under the File menu, select New OpenPGP Key Pair.

5. Enter the name and address of the key pair and create a certificate.

6. Set up is complete at this point.
