Admin By Request is a security and privilege management tool that allows you to request temporary administrative privileges on your Creighton owned device.
- Run as Admin (Application Elevation) or
- Admin Session (User Elevation).
About Run As Admin (Application Elevation)
Run As Admin is when a user runs a file that triggers User Account Control prompt (UAC) or Administrator prompt. The user can run the program sandboxed without being local administrator. Only the process (not the user) has administrator rights.
About Admin Session (User Elevation)
Admin Session is when the user clicks the tray or desktop icon to request a protected administrator session, which makes the user temporary member of the local administrator’s group for a limited period and all actions are fully audited.
Run as Admin (Application Elevation)
1. For example, installing Greenshot browser on Windows 11 using Run as Admin.
1.1. Double click the application installer file or right-click and select Run as administrator.
2. The following window will be Administrator prompt is displayed. Provide/verify your email address, phone number and a reason for the request.
3. Once the request is approved, you will receive an email and a pop-up message in the lower right hand corner of Windows. Click on Yes to proceed with the installation or admin action.
Admin Session Request
1. The admin session request is initiated by selecting Request administrator access in the system tray.
2. Fill out the request form including email, phone number and the reason for the request.
3. Once the request is approved, you will receive an email and a pop-up message in the lower right hand corner of Windows. Click on Yes to start the admin session.
4. When the Admin session is started a window with a timer will appear on the bottom right corner.
Denial of Request
1. In the case your request is denied, please read the feedback in the response email and submit a ticket if you need any further assistance with the request.
