How to Steps
Admin By Request is a security tool that helps you safely install applications on your Creighton owned device by temporarily granting administrative privileges. This ensures your system stays secure while giving you the flexibility to install what you need.
Two Ways to Request Admin Access
- Run as Admin (Application Elevation)
This option is used when you run a program that requires administrator rights (You will be prompted with a User Account Control prompt). The program runs with elevated privileges, but you do not become an administrator. This keeps your system secure while allowing the app to install.
- Admin Session (User Elevation)
This option gives you temporary administrator access for a limited time. You’ll be added to the local administrator for a limited amount of time. You can request this by clicking the Admin By Request icon in your system tray.

What Happens When You Make a Request
Depending on your settings, your request will follow one of these paths:
- Access after entering a reason on the request form.
- Access after entering a reason and waiting for approval.
- Immediate access for specific groups (logged for auditing).
- Access denied (you may still use a PIN if offline)
