Adding Stapler (Finisher) in MAC OS X

Prerequisites / Minimum Requirements

  • Installed Canon drivers for the desired printer via Landesk.

End State / Outcome

  • The stapler (finisher) option will be available as a user-selectable option (MAC OS X).

How to Steps

When Canon devices are first installed on Macintosh computers via Landesk, the default driver assumes that the printer has only basic features. This document describes how to add the stapler (finisher) as a user-selectable option.

 1. Open System Preferences.

2. In the System Preferences window, choose the printer option, which will be named either Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

3. In the window that appears, click the locked padlock in the lower-left-hand corner to enable changes. Type in an administrative account password at the prompt. If the padlock is already unlocked, skip to step 4.

4. A list of printers should appear on the left pane. Click the desired printer, then on the Options & Supplies button to the right.

5. In the subsequent window, click the middle button, named either Driver or Options.

6. A list of printer options should appear below. Check the options that correspond with your last particular printer's capabilities. For most office printers, at the least, you should enable the Inner Finisher option. Some better-equipped printers will have additional capabilities.

7. Click OK once finished. Follow steps 4 through 7 for any additional Canon printers you wish to customize.
