Prerequisites / Minimum Requirements
1. Access to a shared folder is assigned to your account.
2. Access to a Mac device such as a Macbook or iMac that needs to be connected to the shared folder.
3. Access to the CU network via Ethernet, WiFi, or VPN.
End State / Outcome
1. An established connection to a CU shared folder.
How to Steps
1. Open the Finder application on the Mac.
2. WIth Finder selected, select Go along the top ribbon of the Mac screen, and then Connect to server.
a. Alternatively, with finder selected, CMD + K will also open the same screen.
3. Enter the path to your shared folder - these look different on Mac compared to Windows:
a. Windows path example: \\blue\departments\athletics\training\
b. The same path on Mac: smb://blue/departments/athletics/training/
c. Mac devices require the smb:// prefix, and use forward slash instead of backslash.
4. When prompted for credentials to connect, enter the following:
a. blue\netID for the username - BE SURE to enter blue\ before the NetID
b. Standard CU password
If You Are Unable to Map to the Folder or Experience Issues, and Are Not Prompted for Their Credentials
1. Open up Keychain Access.
2. Delete saved credentials for shared folder access, they should look similar to the ones pictured below - do not delete entries for casper if they exist:
3. Reboot the device.
4. When mapping folders again, you should be prompted for credentials, where blue\ can be entered when mapping to resolve issues.
Known Issues With Mapping Folders on Mac:
1. Mapping of shared folders does not trigger automatically on login as it does with Windows devices.
2. Mac shared folder connections can be broken when the device goes to sleep, requiring re-mapping.
