Moving Templates and Workflows from DocuSign to Adobe Sign

Prerequisites / Minimum Requirements

  • Adobe Sign account with the right license tier (Acrobat Standard/Pro or Acrobat Sign Solutions)

  • DocuSign account with administrator access to download templates.

  • Workflow Designer enabled in global settings for custom workflows Adobe Help Center.

  • A zip file containing your DocuSign templates (downloaded from DocuSign)

How to Steps

You can migrate your DocuSign templates and workflows into Adobe Sign to keep your signing processes consistent and reduce setup time. This process works for both templates and workflows, with some elements requiring manual review.

1. Download Templates from DocuSign

  • Log in to your DocuSign account.

  • Go to the Templates tab (admin view).

  • Select the templates you want to migrate.

  • Use the Download option (three dots) to save them as a zip file.

2. Upload to Adobe Sign

  • In Adobe Sign, navigate to Admin > Migrate templates from Docusign.

  • Click Select file and choose your downloaded zip file Adobe Help Center.

  • If you’ve migrated before, click Start new migration to clear previous uploads.

3. Start the Migration

  • Once the file is uploaded, click Start migration.

  • Adobe Sign converts DocuSign JSON templates into its own library templates and custom workflows Adobe Help Center.

4. Review Migrated Workflows

  • After migration, workflows appear under Custom Workflows with the “Migrated” tag.

  • Open each workflow to check:

    • Signing order (roles, authentication, sign order)

    • Agreement template (fields mapped from DocuSign tabs)

  • You can deactivate workflows if needed for adjustments.

What Gets Migrated

  • Templates → Adobe Sign library templates.

  • Tabs (form fields) → Adobe Sign form fields.

  • Workflow logic → Custom workflows in Adobe Sign Adobe Help Center.

What’s Not Migrated

  • Recipient role mappings (may need manual setup).

  • Template field mappings (may require adjustment).

  • Custom Docusign settings (not retained) Adobe Help Center.

Tips

  • Always review migrated workflows before marking them active.

  • If you need to send documents directly from Adobe Sign, ensure workflows are active and assigned to users.

  • For large migrations, plan downtime or off-peak hours.

By following these steps, you can seamlessly transition your DocuSign workflows into Adobe Sign while preserving most of your existing structure and field data.
