Answer
Alteryx software is an intuitive, code-free platform for data preparation, blending, analytics, and automation used in the Accounting 577 class in the Heider College of Business by Professor Don Lux. This software is packaged by the Desktop Engineering team, and is installed in the Harper computer classrooms 3033 and 3035, as well as the Heider College of Business Data Analytics Lab, located in Harper 4066.
This software normally retails for $5000 per seat, however faculty member Lux has arranged a special teaching license between Creighton and Alteryx for free use in Accounting 577 classes. The license allows the software to be used for teaching and research and does NOT allow it to be used for production purposes. The software should not be installed outside of the Heider College of Business without express permission of Professor Lux as the license is limited to ACC 577 classes.
The software installation works as follows as it is both an automated and manual process:
- Professor Lux obtains the annual license from Alteryx in the late summer, and downloads the software.
- The software is sent via JayDrop, along with a ticket, to the Desktop Engineers, to build an Ivanti package.
- Once the package is built, a Client Support Specialist (CSA) will work with Professor Lux to thaw the computers and push the software.
- Once the software is successfully pushed, the CSA will log in to each machine using the CUadmin account. Professor Lux will then follow the CSA and license the software using the code(s) given to him by the vendor. The machines are then rebooted.
- The computers are frozen and the software is available for student use for the current academic year.
